Education and Experience Needed:
• High school diploma, 5+ years of work experience as a mortgage underwriter, DE preferable (Underwriting).
• Experience with Calyx Point
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Must be punctual, self-reliant and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Basic math skills.
• Basic MS Word and MS Excel knowledge.

Underwriter Description:

• Underwrite files for delegated correspondent lender,
• Underwrite to investor overlays and specific guidelines,
• Support branches with a courteous and positive attitude,
• Verify approval information for all programs and investors,
• Handling confidential information,
• Heavy oral and written communication skills,
• Research problems using available resources, such as manuals, doc services, etc,
• Work in a team atmosphere,
• Complete other tasks as requested by department Manager,
• Ensures full compliance and quality of loan documentation,
• Resolves loan documentation issues with the lending team,
• Collaborates on problem-solving and process improvements efforts to maintain and continuously improve loan operations policy, procedure, and performance,
• Performs routine administrative tasks in support of the mortgage loan funding group,
• Preparing, packaging and funding documents and finalizing and filing customer files,
• Responsible for ensuring accuracy on approvals,
• Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within their particular field
• Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job,
• Preparing documentation for scanning, entry into the system and proper storage,
• Completes quality checks of loan packets, document deficiencies, and resolves exceptions with Loan Processors,
• When necessary, assists with reports and audits,
• Ensures loans and processes meet compliance standards,
• Carries out responsibilities with professionalism and respect for others in accordance with the bank’s policies and applicable laws,
